John and Debra Basile purchased their farm in 2009 with the intention of starting their winery. John is the Wine Maker and has already won 7 Medals in his first year! John is a 4th generation home wine maker who has been sharing his wine with friends and family for over 20 years. He is a scientist by trade and has a great passion for winemaking. Debra's degree is in Agricultural Economics and Environmental Science. They are a great team, have been married for over 20 years and have 5 children. John and Debra have always dreamed of living off the land and enjoy the challenge of the vineyard! We all enjoy what we do and love talking about our vines and our wines. Kevin Martin has also been a home wine maker for over 20 years. He and John are cousins. Kevin is married to Doreen and has 2 children. Kevin is the Vineyard Manager and also assists John with the wine making.
In 2010 we planted 4 acres of vines which include Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Chardonnay and Gruner Veltliner. This spring we planted Moscato. Our farm is bordered by a beautiful peach orchard and will be surrounded by corn in the fall.
